Why do we crank up the car radio and sing along? Why do we belt out our favourite tunes in the shower? Why do we sing along with friends at parties and celebrations while on the dance floor?
Because it makes us feel GOOD.
When we sing, we breathe deeper, increasing the flow of oxygen round our bodies. This encourages the brain to release endorphins, making us feel energised and uplifted. This helps reduce your blood pressure and heart rate, reducing stress and anxiety. Singing together encourages the production of oxytocin, increasing feelings of trust, wellbeing and happiness.
